Personae Dramatis is a collection of five character pieces for alto saxophone and piano meant to evoke archetypal heroes of fictional literature. The Paragon is the leader of the group and the iconic good guy, and good at just about everything he or she does. The Oracle is the ubiquitous know it all cloaked in mysticism. The Rake is the hero who wants more than anything else to not be the hero and the Recluse, of course, just want to be left alone. The Fury is more antihero than hero with a drive to get the job done no matter the cost. The five do not always get along but they are always good at finding a place in our hearts and when all else fails, coming together and showing us the meaning of heroism.
