Gloaming Tides may be preformed with clarinet quartet, or for clarinet quartet with clarinet choir. The first clarinet player can use either the b-flat clarinet 1 or the optional e-flat clarinet 1 part at their discretion. When adding forces beyond the clarinet quartet any number of clarinets can be added to each choir part, and each choir part is considered optional. For example the work could be preformed as a quintet with the four quartet parts and an alto clarinet (or any other choir part). With extremely large clarinet choirs it might become necessary to double the quartet parts to avoid balance issues.
